Pop Goes the Weasel

All around the mulberry bush
The monkey chased the weasel.
The monkey thought 'twas all in fun.
Pop Goes the Weasel!

The center of winders were made of mulberry because the grain is less likely to split. The arms going around were called the monkeys. The weasel is the latch on the base of the winder that pops when it's full. Pop goes the weasel!

Thanks Carmichaels flea market guy.

Cool beans! At first glance I thought the arms were croquet mallets. That would have been cool, too, come to think of it, but the real explanation is so much better.

Ummm what exactly is this used for??? I'm thinking it has to do with yarn of course but I am slightly perplexed.

Did you find a good deal on it? I saw one in a shop that was way, way too much, but pretty.
