I *heart* blackberries
so you can imagine my joy and surprise when I found some in my backyard. It's amazing what you can discover when it's not 95 degrees with 95% humidity (Cindy- if I had known the weather was going to be like this I would have sent out an invitation)
My most vivid memory of my (Creekside, PA)Grandfather M. is of walking along the railroad tracks with him to pick blackberries for a pie. Thanks for the flashback.
Those look almost like thimbleberries in the first picture. The blackberries where we live have monstrous, evil vines that wrap around legs, slice open skin and grab a hold of all clothing. Our berries aren't that lovely shape either. Enjoy!
