Prosperity-

or not. Local scenery from a Saturday afternoon drive.

On the other hand- here's some prosperity looking at you- a close up of the traveling scarf. I Love it but seriously hope not to need it for much longer.

Hey!

Who's that scraggy-haired orange-wearin' dork at knit night? One of the more respectable knitters suggested that they all chip in and just buy me a teapot for the cozy.

To add to my dorkiness- I was so excited about the finished entrelac ball I could barely kitchener the last stitch and requested a kodak moment for that as well. Search entrelac ball on Ravelry for the pattern but KNQDebbie rewrote it for the sake of simplicity.

Finally- The one we call Ursula has many extra yarn cones which are now wool gnomes. Cutedorable.

Stay tuned- there may be crocheted Snidely Whiplash moustachios next week.

I loves me some good mini-projects. And have I got some plans for some balls.

Oranges Poranges- who cares?

C'est finis. I'll have a live shot when I finish the matching entrelac balls. (yea, I said it again.) Maybe it will be an action shot and I'll juggle... balls.

In spite of that declaration I would like to formally say that I don't think blogging is narcissistic. I grow weary of those who are unfamiliar with what happens in the blog world declaring it so. I could expound but it would just be more words and if you're already reading- you know what I mean.

It's the Little Things

Hear ye! Hear ye! This evening I had 20 stitches on a very simple lace-like scarf of 21 stitches. Instead of ripping the whole thing out in disgust, I worked my way out from the center of the pattern and found the missing yarn over. I'm pretty sure I could hear fireworks in the background.

Hear ye! Hear ye! Hear ye! There are three more knitters on the planet and they are all BOYS (a fourth and 2 fifth graders.) While BoyzKnit2 was not their first choice for an "after school enrichment class," they all seemed pretty pleased with themselves in the end. One was mostly just relieved that he didn't have to be in the cheerleading class. Apparently a form-filling adult in his house thought if they selected absurd second and third choices, he would be sure to get the first choice-archery. (Not that there's anything wrong with male cheerleaders- but they haven't found their way to rural WV yet.) Knitting has pointy sticks like archery and you don't have to do any splits so Kenny was pleased.

In other news- at a certain school- the teachers were having an a.m. faculty meeting. Students (grade Pre-K-5) entered the building at 8:30 a.m. (as always.) The leader of this meeting, rather than dismissing the teachers to their respective classrooms, closed the door to the meeting room so that everyone could hear better. Someone near and dear to your hearts (after waiting for about 5 minutes) declared pointedly "There are unattended children in the classrooms." The meeting continued for a few more minutes and teachers were dismissed.

In seemingly unrelated news, the bottom number of my blood pressure clocked in at 120 at the dr.'s office on Monday. I've got some drugs now. The dr. had the usual "if we knew what caused high blood pressure, we'd be looking for ways to cure it rather than just treat it." I am here to suggest that high blood pressure is caused by other people.

Knitting news- 1/2 a felted citrus tea cozy is done and KNQDebbie taught me to do duplicate stitches. Next week at knit night we're all making entrelac balls. I hope I remember to bring my camera.

Pgh Knit and Crochet

Yea, I couldn't resist. I can't believe I paid $15 for the privilege of buying yarn. What a dolt. But Mr. Sophanne felt lucky and wanted to go to the casino so there I went.

These events are just too much for me- completely overwhelming. I tried out the idea of not planning on purchasing anything (knowing that something might find its way into my hands.) It still was too much for my brain to process.

I got some aussie wool with a Felted Citrus Tea Cozy Pattern Please realize that I don't have teapots and have no need to make them cozy. In fact, I didn't realize that's what it was supposed to be when I saw the knitted sample. I thought it was a purse that needed closure and an i-cord. Then the Aussie Yarn salesman put it on his head and I was a goner. Sometimes I laugh like the Penguin on the old Batman series. It really couldn't be helped. I've never bought orange yarn before and it looks like an easy knit. I don't want to steal anyone's picture of it so do click on the link and pretend it's a hat.

I also got some blocking wires for that lace I haven't knitted yet. One step closer.

I refrained from cashmere, jojoland melody, more alpaca, and several other blocked out of my mind items.

NaNoBloPoMo

Yea, I made it up. It stands for National No Blog Posting Month. It was going to be February but then I got an award from the Fabulous Cindy for being a

and I felt like maybe I should say thanks and post a little. Cindy has an awesome blog- tunes every day- Grover the Dog- and weekly Friday announcements. She's also got some great blogger friends (check out the other people she bestowed this award upon because they are also some of my favorite reads.)

In other news- nothing says I love you on Valentine's Day like a big ole pile of gravel in the driveway (24 tons to be precise)

Seriously- it's quite the treat. THere were also cards, flowers, candy, some lottery tickets for him but not nearly as exciting as rocks sliding out of heavy machinery.

My new nemesis- Pizza Crust. I thought for sure I'd be able to work this out by now.

Episode 1: Bisquick Pizza Crust- Tastes like biscuits. No surprise there for anyone with logical thought. Present company excluded.

Episode 2: Betty Crocker packet Crust- meh- not the local homemade taste I was looking for.

Episode 3: Still trying to get cooked as I type- homemade crust with yeast flour etc. the basic stuff. I knew things were looking bad 50 minutes after I had set it aside to rise and it didn't look any different. In answer to all possible problem solvers- yes the yeast was fresh, yes I used warm water, I called my friend from whence the recipe came and she asked me all of those (and more questions) and could only say "huh." She also said that "no, it was not likely to speed rise in the last 10 minutes of rising time."

While on the phone with her I asked her how many crusts it would make- she said two. I was only prepared for one- she said I could just make it a thicker crust. That thicker crust is in the oven trying to fulfill its destiny (density- what movie is that from?) with little to no success. It is doing a nice job of just being dough.

On the Knit front- the prayer shawl is finished and its recipient is reported to be doing well. I also finished a crocheted afghan for Mr. Sophanne's daughter. I've been spending most of my time on the EZ adult surprize jacket- as there is no real form to observe until the end, you can enjoy the pretty colors.

If the gravel is shoveled in time there may be a "playing together separately" adventure for Mr. Sophanne and I. I'll drop him off at the casino and motor on up to the Pgh Knit and Crochet Festival in the city of Mars. (that cracks me up.) I may also stop at a local pizzeria (why is that not spelled pizzaria?) and indulge.
