A new job. Sort of.

Kids have 5 more days of school. Teachers have two after that. On one of those days I have to go to a mock shooting so I'll know what gunshots in a school sound like. Don't even ask me how I feel about that. I'm investigating the possibility of Pre Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

I have had this flex thing for a week. Yesterday I reached all daily goals for the first time. They gave me a "badge" and asked me didn't I want to do 5000 more steps?

Not yet.

How to get 3000 steps in on knit night: Meet HusbandBob at the casino and walk around the entire casino three times, pretending to be an angry wife in search of her imaginary deadbeat husband.

Having calories burned higher than calories consumed is a good thing. Once the math is placed so simply in the readout, it's hard to order that giant white garlic feta pizza. Dinner becomes a 6" seafood sub with baked BBQ lays instead of the real ones. Somehow seeing the math makes it easier to accept.

We all know I've had various lame attempts at this healthy business. So here's why I think maybe it can be different this time.

1. I've purchased a flex fitbit for BFFAmber. I won't be alone and she loves ice cream as much as me.

2. I'm going to pretend it's my job to meet these daily goals for the whole summer. All of the things on the Pinterest "summer syllabus" board happen only after I've done my job.

Also I did it for a week before committing to it.

Here's to a summer of spectacular business as a self employed healthy person.

I'll say it again: you are awesome! Great plan for the fitbit thingie and the summer. (I had one for a month or two, but never got into the whole calorie recording thing -- just the steps. Once I knew roughly how many steps I took in an average day, I knew what I had to do to get that number higher. So when FitBit offered to refund the price of the FitBit Force b/c of skin problems some users had, I took advantage and got my $$ back.)
